It’s summer in India and all would be wanting to drink chilled shakes or cold juices. Am not a fan of the soft drinks. When I used to go to visit my parents during our holidays the best thing my elder one(HARISH) likes are the fresh juices they make. My parents make pomegranate, apple, orange, Sathukudi (the lemonish version of orange found in India) and other fruits as well, depending on the availability. While making the juice they add a lot of sugar to it so it tastes awesome and my elder one loves it as it is sweeter. I tell my parents you all are drinking empty calories. Am not a fan of sugar. But at times all these sweeter things are needed in life as to give us an excitement. Especially kids love them.
So here is an easy milkshake to leave you refreshed in these hot days. But here in Nairobi now it is chill, raining most of the time. I need to mention about the climate in Nairobi, Kenya. No one will believe that the houses here don’t have any fan/air condition or a heater. Isn’t that amazing yes it is pleasant most of the year. No extremes of hot weather or snow. Lovely climate – am really in love with Nairobi’s climate. General thought that Africa is hot but coming and living here will give you a wanting to stay here forever.
All these milkshakes are easy to make but we don’t make them at home, rather buy them when going for dinner or lunch. This recipe is for all who want to make these kind of milkshakes at home for their kids but don’t know how to make it.
Hope you all will try and let me know how much you liked it.
Cuisine: World | Category: Milkshakes/Breakfast Ideas | Prep time: 5 mins | Serves: 3
Ingredients
- Banana – 1 big or 2 small
- Vanilla Extract – 2 tsp.
- Cold Milk – 1 1/2 cup (preferably cold)
- Vanilla Icecream – 4 scoops (If needed add a scoop on top while serving)
METHOD
- Take all your ingredients ready.
- Chop the banana and add them in the blender.
- Now add the cold milk, vanilla extract and the vanilla ice cream.
- Blend everything until smooth and frothy.
- Enjoy this creamy milkshake either like that or with some vanilla ice-cream on top.
Note : The Ice-cream and the bananas give the sweetness to the shake. If it is not that sweet enough then add a tablespoon of sugar or honey according to your preference.
Adding cold milk makes it frothy and thick. Use whole milk as that makes the shake creamier.
Adding vanilla extract improves the flavor of the shake.
Freezing the banana gives a creamier milkshake.
Add any sort of topping like the rainbow vermicelli. Maybe can add chocolate vermicelli, or cocoa powder or even milo. Get creative and enjoy the milkshake.
Add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top before serving.
