Ginger Garlic Paste

Ginger Garlic paste is a very handy ingredient to be done in bulk and stored. This makes life easier. In our fast paced lives lot of things are readymade. But anything homemade is the best in quality and freshness. Ofcourse it 100% doesn’t have any preservatives. Store bought ones they might say no preservatives but we always have our own doubts. So to be 200 % sure of our ingredients lets try to do it ourselves.

Ginger can be stored in the freezer section for months. Peel the skin and wash them and dry them outside. Now store the ginger pieces in a zip log bag in the freezer section. Whenever you need just take a piece out and grate it, no need to defrost them.

Ingredients

  • Ginger – 1 cup
  • Garlic – 1 1/2 cup
  • Water – little

METHOD

  • Peel the skin of ginger and garlic.
  • Wash them and chop into small pieces.
  • Put them in a blender.
  • Add little water and grind it to a smooth paste.
  • Transfer it into a container and store it in refrigerator.

Note :  For every 4 cloves of garlic use 1″ piece ginger. That makes 1 cup ginger and 1 1/2 cup garlic.

Don’t use your hand to transfer the contents from the blender that will reduce the shelf life of the paste.

If handled well can last for  to 4 weeks. Use dry spoon every time.

Adding a teaspoon of hot oil and little salt will increase the shelf life.

Another tip to peel ginger. Use a spoon and peel.
