HAPPY VALENTINE’s DAY 2019 to all my followers, fellow bloggers and friends out there. This recipe is coming as a treat for the Valentine day celebration. Make this easy dessert for your valentine this Valentine’s Day.
Panna Cotta on its own is an awesome dessert by itself. But I have combined it with a layer of chocolate cake, so it has become a decadant dessert that can be served at parties. As this is just a small serving it reduces the mess of cutting and serving, and also it is perfect for parties. Many may not know what is panna cotta or mustn’t have tasted it anywhere. Even I didn’t know until we stayed in a hotel on full board, where they served this as a dessert. I have tried it few years ago. Think the blogging mind in you allows you to do more research on the new dishes you try and make it yourself. All bloggers will give a hi fi on this……….
Getting back to Panna Cotta – It has its origin from Italy. It is nothing but Sweetened Cream which uses gelatine or agar agar to set like a pudding. It is so easy to prepare and is a Classic on its own.
I have combined a Chocolate sheet cake and the panna cotta together in shot cups to serve as a decadent dessert after a get together. The recipe of the Chocolate Sheet Cake is here. Just cut the sheet cake and place them in the cups you want to serve and then make the panna cotta mix and pour it over the cake and allow it to set in the refrigerator for at-least 4 to 6 hrs. AND the Chocolate Panna Cotta layered cake mini’s are ready to be served. You can skip the Cake part and just make the Panna Cotta alone as a dessert option.

Do try this easy and yummy dessert for your next gathering and let me know if you enjoyed it.

Mini Chocolate Panna Cotta Layered Cake
Cuisine: Italian | Category: Dessert Recipes | Prep time: 15 mins | Set Time: 6 hrs | Servings: 14 Shot Glasses & 6 Small Ramekins | Recipe Source: Here
Ingredients for Making Chocolate Panna Cotta
- Water – 1/2 Cup
- Unflavoured Gelatin – 5 tsps
- Bittersweet Chocolate – 7 1/2 ounces
- Milk Chocolate – 5 ounces
- Whipping Cream – 2 1/2 Cups
- Whole Milk -2 1/2 Cups
- Sugar – 1/2 Cup + 2 tbsps
- Vanilla Extract – 1 1/4 tsps
- Vanilla Beans – 1 1/2 ( Split Lengthwise)
METHOD with VISUAL CLICKS : :

Note : If you are a vegetarian just replace the gelatin to equal amount of Agar-Agar flakes. If using Agar-Agar Powder then substitute 1 tbsp. of the flakes to 1 tsp of the powder.
You should note that the texture while using Agar-Agar is slightly different compared to Gelatin. Agar-Agar gives a firmer texture and Gelatin gives a smoother texture.
While heating the mixture on the stovetop don’t use high flame then the chocolate will burn.
The Panna cotta alone can be served as a dessert without the cake. It is super easy to churn the whole thing together.
Another method to always be safe is by taking milk, sugar, vanilla and whipping cream in a saucepan and allowing it to come to a boil. Then switch off the stove and add the gelatin mixture to it and mix everything then finally add it to the chopped chocolate.
Chopping the chocolate is very important, otherwise it will not melt easily and there will be lumps of chocolate.
The Mini Chocolate Panna Cotta Layered Cake is ready to be served. Try and let me know if you liked it.
